Hydraulic fracturing (fraccing) fact sheet

Hydraulic fracturing, or fraccing as it is commonly known, is a process used globally by the oil and gas industry to improve the productivity of an oil or gas well. This improvement is achieved by increasing the overall permeability of the gas-bearing formation, for example a coal seam, in the area around the well. It is a proven and accepted technology – and it is not new to Australia or Santos.
