Free music events to hit the high notes this Brisbane Festival

5 Sep 2014

A new and exciting series of free live music performances will kick off at South Bank on Saturday, where the grassy green of the River Quay will come to life as part of Brisbane Festival's newest event, the Santos GLNG Twilight Music Series.

Pack a picnic, grab your friends and family or head over after work to see a stellar lineup of up-and-coming musicians take the stage from 5-7pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 6-26 September.

The lineup includes future-folk and soul artist Ngaaire, the latest winner of triple j Unearthed Japanese Wallpaper, and local sensation Naomi Price. Picnic rugs will be on sale for $10, to raise funds for CareFlight to assist in their life-saving aeromedical evacuation work.

Santos Vice President Queensland Trevor Brown said Santos GLNG was delighted to help bring a brand new event to this year's festival, with the riverbank the perfect spot to enjoy an evening with free live music and a stunning view of the city.

"Queensland is a fantastic place to live and work, and we love seeing Brisbane become even more vibrant during the festival each September," Mr Brown said.

"We're a proud Australian company and our ongoing support of Brisbane Festival is just one of the ways we're giving back to the community.

"We're pleased that we can use the event to help raise funds for CareFlight, an organisation that helps more than 1,000 critically ill Queenslanders each year."

Santos GLNG, along with Arrow Energy, QGC and APLNG already fund the Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Evacuation Service in Roma, operated by CareFlight.

"The Santos GLNG Twilight Music Series will showcase outstanding Queensland and Australian talent, and I hope many Brisbanites will get along to this fantastic free event," Mr Brown said.

Brisbane Festival Artistic Director Noel Staunton said he was thrilled to partner with Santos GLNG to deliver a great public event.

"We have programmed some of the hottest names in Australian music right now and I am so pleased the public will get to witness their talent for free thanks to our longstanding partnership with Santos GLNG," Mr Staunton said.
